“On all counts Russell Greenan has written a superbly macabre and satisfying first novel. The details are grisly, the people are lunatic, but the results are magnetic.

[…] the painter is assailed by more things than commissions and colleagues. He is beginning to have metaphysical troubles. The world, he slowly discovers, is not arranged according to any just order.
